Shasta Orthopaedics is a highly respected and innovative subspecialty musculoskeletal practice. Our beautiful medical office building was designed specifically for our use and is in a highly visible and easily accessible location in scenic Redding, California, and includes many convenient services on site including x-ray, MRI, and physical therapy.
Shasta Orthopaedics is a multi-specialty group including orthopaedics, sport medicine, podiatry, chiropractic, and interventional pain management. Medical assistants are primarily assigned to one provider, but may cross-cover other areas.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma required
- Basic understanding of accounting
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience with accounts payable and payroll preferred
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite of software, QuickBooks PRO, Time Clocks, etc.
- Ability to communicate among multiple organizational levels within the practice
- Overall understanding of healthcare economics
- Comfortable using email and interacting with Internet applications
- Knowledge of practice management and revenue cycle management software
- Proficiency in English and in MS Office
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following
- Record daily financial transactions and completing the posting process
- Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct accounts
- Bring accounts to the trail balance stage in conjunction with Controller for efficient closing each month with CHMB
- Generate and provide from QuickBooks income statements, balance sheets
- Ensure TimeClocks Plus is reconciled daily with Department Managers
- Assist Controller with pension plan or 401K contributions
- Assist Controller with group health, vision, dental, HSA, FSA and other benefit plan components
- Monitor Accounting Office and janitorial supply levels and reorder as necessary
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system for vendors and ensure filing accuracy
- Maintain cash drawer bags and petty cash and ensure reconciled to balance
- Record cash receipts and make bank deposits
- Proven ability to calculate, post, manage accounting figures and balance financial records
- Complete cost accounting for all services, using provider account and cost center allocation
- Match purchases orders with invoices and reconcile variances
- Reconciliation of petty cash monthly
- Performs any other tasks assigned by the Controller or Administrator

- Observes established organization and department policies and procedures, including confidentiality, safety, infection control and other environmental regulations
- Works collaboratively with others toward improving organizational performance and supports goals and objectives of the organization
- Meets organizational standard for attendance, punctuality and use of break times
- Maintains and enhances competency through in-services, staff meetings and
educational programs
- Observes dress code per organizational and departmental standards
Interpersonal Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Interacts effectively with all customers, both internal and external, including patients, guests, surgery center, hospital staff, physicians and their offices, and other SOSM departments to accomplish departmental functions
- Represents the organization in a professional manner at all times
- Addresses cultural, religious and other special needs of patients, families and staff
Typical Physical Demands
Position requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment is also required. Employee must have normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports.
Typical Working Conditions
Normal office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work.

Pay: $18.12 - $21.41 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
