Duties
- Perform detailed patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine individual needs.
- Administer medications and injections accurately, including IV infusions and specialized treatments such as botulinum toxin therapy.
- Manage complex medical procedures such as catheterization, tube feeding, venipuncture, and sterile dressing changes using aseptic techniques.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems like Cerner, Epic, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks to document patient care accurately and efficiently.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations through specimen collection/processing and coordinate with laboratory services; interpret diagnostic results for appropriate action.
- Provide emergency interventions including airway management, ventilator support, acute pain management, and trauma response in Level I Trauma Center or ICU settings.
- Support discharge planning, case management, and health coaching to promote optimal recovery and long-term health maintenance.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in various settings such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, hospice programs, or home & community care environments.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control standards to ensure patient privacy and safety at all times.
Experience
- Proven experience in diverse nursing environments including hospital medicine, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), emergency room (ER), medical-surgical units, or post-acute care settings.
- Critical care experience with Level I or Level II trauma centers preferred; familiarity with trauma protocols and acute pain management essential.
- Skilled in working with individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), behavioral health needs, or chronic conditions such as infectious disease or geriatrics.
- Demonstrated proficiency in advanced nursing procedures like spinal taps, dialysis support, cardiac catheterization assistance, or neonatal ventilator management is highly desirable.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth; knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for accurate medical documentation is advantageous.
- Background in pediatric (including neonatal) care or working with children of all ages is a plus; familiarity with pediatric-specific procedures like neonatal ventilator management is beneficial.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology (including medication administration), and medical terminology to inform clinical decision-making.
