JOB GOAL: The Teacher of Public Safety is responsible for providing high-quality instruction to high school students regarding the methods, theories, and skills required for careers in Law Enforcement, Fire Services, Security, and/or Emergency Management.

Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey Department of Education Career and Technical Education (CTE) teaching certificate(s) in specialized area of expertise or eligibility to obtain.
• Instructor certifications in CPR/First Aid, Defensive Tactics, or CERT are highly desirable.
• Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching methods and developmentally appropriate classroom activities.
• Ability to break down complex legal and technical concepts for teenage learners.
• Ability to maintain a positive learning environment and inspire students to pursue public service.
• Demonstrated high ethical standards, integrity, and physical/mental discipline.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written, in the English language.
• Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
