The Assistant Principal helps the Principal manage the school’s daily operations, educational programs, and staff. This position focuses on driving academic excellence, managing student discipline, implementing school policies, and promoting a positive, inclusive culture for students (grades 6-12).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Instructional Leadership: Support teacher growth through instructional coaching, classroom observations, and evaluations. Promote high-quality virtual instruction and ensure curriculum and instructional practices align with Nevada Academic Content Standards and school goals.
- Student Support & School Culture: Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive virtual learning environment by implementing student support systems, overseeing attendance processes, and consistently applying the student code of conduct. Utilize restorative practices and collaborative problem-solving to support student success and engagement.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze student performance, attendance, and engagement data to monitor progress, identify areas of need, and guide instructional and intervention strategies that improve student outcomes.
- Operations & Compliance: Assist with school operations, scheduling, compliance requirements, and safety procedures to ensure efficient day-to-day functioning of the school. Support the coordination of school activities, programs, and operational systems within the virtual environment.
- Communication & Collaboration: Build and maintain positive relationships with students, families, staff, and community stakeholders. Communicate effectively and professionally while fostering a collaborative, student-centered school culture.
Additional Duties
- Maintain knowledge of state and charter requirements related to student assessment, accountability, attendance, and reporting.
- Support student persistence and success through monitoring and analysis of student data.
- Send regular schoolwide communications and communicate effectively with students, families, and staff.
- Present information during staff meetings and professional development activities.
- Participate in school, charter, and state-provided professional development opportunities.
- Assist with the planning and administration of standardized testing.
- Collaborate with staff and families to support students with special education needs, including participation in IEP meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of school operations and student success.
