EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF ACADEMIC AND STUDENT SERVICESREPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent
POSITION SUMMARY
To provide leadership in strategic planning, curriculum development, research and evaluation, student services and special education, instructional media and technology, federal programs, and staff development.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree from an accredited educational institution (required). Doctorate preferred.
- Certification in Educational Leadership, School Principal, or K-12 Supervisory.
- Progressive experience in public school district central office administration required.
- Experience in leadership of teaching and learning.
- Experience in leadership of student services.
Essential Duties
- Leads administrators to review and evaluate curriculum on a systematic schedule for revision and rewriting at all organizational levels
- Leads the district instructional coaching program
- Implements new curricula and programs for general education and special education
- Provides agenda and leadership for Board Curriculum Committee
- Sets up and works with district curriculum committees
- Oversees a comprehensive system of assessments, testing, and progress monitoring for all programs, K-12Serves as district representative to I.U. Curriculum Council & Special Education Leaders
- Assists in the formulation of philosophy and objectives of the instructional program and specialized service programs including special education delivery, gifted education, behavioral supports, and other student services
- Interprets the curriculum and curriculum philosophy to the Board, the administration, the staff, and the public
- Provides leadership for staff and administration in the study and evaluation of new curriculum materials
- Administers the textbook, and instructional materials selection and adoption program
- Directs the development and publication of all curriculum guides and materials for District distribution in all subject areas
- Maintains liaison and active participation with educational leaders in curriculum and instruction at state, regional and national levels
- Keeps abreast of curriculum development and innovations by reviewing the literature, attending professional meetings and conferences, and discussing developments and problems of mutual interest with other educators
- Assists in the review and evaluation of the results of district testing programs and other evaluation measures used in the schools for all students
- Oversees district curriculum, specialized programs, and federal programs budgets, staffing and compliance
- Works with supervisors of special education to oversee full continuum of special education services k-12Establishes and maintains effective interpersonal and open communication skills that foster positive and productive working relationships with fellow administrators, schools, families, and the community
- EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATION: ACT 93, EXEMPT, 12-Month
- COMPENSATION: $180,000+ commensurate with qualifications and experience
