This key leadership position is essential for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective transport of products from distribution warehouses to stores across multiple states.
As the primary liaison with outside carriers, the Transportation and Logistics Manager will tackle transportation and delivery challenges and collaborate closely with the Outside Storage Manager to support seasonal promotional business initiatives.
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee the transportation of products from distribution centers to stores, ensuring cost-effective and timely deliveries.
- Manage outbound deliveries and coordinate inbound freight operations.
- Monitor transportation budgets and expenses; review and resolve invoicing issues in collaboration with the Shipping & Receiving team.
- Strive for the most economical and effective transportation methods.
- Maintain ongoing communication with external carriers to address and resolve issues, ensuring uninterrupted deliveries.
- Analyze performance data to evaluate transportation cost-effectiveness and delivery efficiency.
- Collaborate with fellow managers and supervisors to resolve transportation-related obstacles.
- Assist in organizing the scheduling, receipt, and delivery of seasonal promotions.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate direct reports, providing constructive feedback to enhance their performance.

Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in Transportation and Logistics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Self-motivated, energetic, and possessing a strong sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in various computer software and systems.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous supervisory or managerial experience in a distribution/logistics environment.
- Expertise in Shipping, Receiving, and Inventory processes, in addition to Transportation expertise.
- Experience in a food distribution environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and requirements.
