As a Freight Unloading Specialist, you will be a vital part of ensuring our warehouse operations run smoothly and efficiently.
Role and Responsibilities
The Freight Unloading Specialist is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient unloading of products from trucks and containers. This role is crucial to ensure goods are organized, stored, and prepared for further processing, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the warehouse operations.
- Safely unload products from incoming shipments using manual or mechanical methods.
- Inspect products upon arrival for damage or discrepancies, ensuring quality and accuracy.
- Organize and store items according to established guidelines to maintain inventory integrity.
- Tag and label items properly to streamline sorting and inventory control.
- Work alongside the team to verify inventory levels and report any inconsistencies.
- Maintain a clean and organized unloading area to ensure safety standards are met.
- Support loading and unloading operations as needed across the warehouse.
- Adhere to safety protocols to minimize accidents and promote a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve daily goals related to productivity and quality.
Required Skills and Experience
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in warehouse, shipping, or receiving roles.
- Basic understanding of warehouse functions and inventory control systems.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and remain on your feet, bending and lifting, for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
- Good communication skills with the ability to work well with others.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with forklift operation or handling other warehouse equipment.
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or barcode scanning devices.
- OSHA safety certification or other relevant training is advantageous.
