Role and Responsibilities
The Non Food Retail Manager is responsible for managing the Non-Food Department, ensuring organized inventory, appealing product displays, and excellent customer service. This position supports store leadership in daily operations, supervises associates, manages markdowns, and maintains operational and safety standards.
- Inventory & Product Management: Coach associates on stocking and merchandising standards; monitor inventory, markdowns, and planogram compliance; utilize store systems to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Team Leadership & Training: Guide, supervise, and evaluate associates; assist with hiring and ongoing training; ensure compliance with company policies and safety procedures.
- Operations & Store Management: Assist with daily store operations; act as manager in the absence of leadership; oversee receiving, stocking, and inventory control; maintain a clean and organized department.
- Cash Handling & Financial Accountability: Follow cash handling procedures, manage register operations and deposits, and support financial security and accuracy.
- Customer Service: Help customers locate Non-Food products, maintain department organization, and provide courteous, professional service.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure safety standards are met and company policies, procedures, and guidelines are followed.
Required Skills and Experience
- Basic math skills for cash handling and inventory management
- Knowledge of cash handling, safety, and facility procedures
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Organizational skills to prioritize tasks and manage department operations efficiently
- Problem-solving abilities with the capacity to make effective, timely decisions
- Attention to detail and adherence to company policies and standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2–3 years of retail experience, supervisory experience preferred
- Experience in grocery or Non-Food retail operations preferred
- Food handling certification, if required by local or state regulations
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and kneeling
- Use of equipment such as hand-held scanners, box cutters, and carts
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs regularly and up to 55 lbs occasionally
- Occasional ladder use in a fast-paced, moderately noisy environment
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions during store tasks
