About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated, versatile, and hands-on Retail Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day business activities of our McAllen, TX location. You will be the all-around leader responsible for managing vendor purchasing, facility and equipment maintenance, and local marketing initiatives.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, celebration-driven retail environment. Experience in the party supply, event decor, or floral industry is a meaningful plus.
Key Responsibilities
- General Operations & Management
- Oversee day-to-day business operations to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity
- Supervise, train, and mentor local staff members
- Implement and continuously improve operational policies and procedures
- Purchasing & Procurement
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for supplies, equipment, and services
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders to ensure seamless business continuity
- Track expenses and optimize operational budgets to reduce costs
- Facility & Equipment Maintenance
- Coordinate and oversee routine maintenance, repairs, and safety inspections
- Troubleshoot immediate operational issues and manage third-party contractors (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.)
- Ensure the physical site complies with local regulations and safety standards
- Marketing & Local Business Growth
- Develop and execute local marketing strategies to increase brand awareness and customer acquisition
- Manage local advertising efforts, social media presence, and community partnerships
- Analyze customer feedback and market trends to identify new growth opportunities
Qualifications & Skills
- 3-5+ years of experience in operations management, business administration, or a related role
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or equivalent practical experience
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously (Purchasing, Maintenance, and Marketing)
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills, especially regarding facility and equipment issues
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and leadership communication skills
- Bilingual in English and Spanish — highly preferred for the McAllen/RGV market and vendor management
Experience That Sets You Apart (A Plus)
Prior experience in any of the following is highly valued and will make you stand out:
- Party supply, event decor, or celebration retail
- Floral shop operations or perishable inventory management
- Vendor sourcing for seasonal or event-driven products
- Understanding of high-volume seasonal demand cycles
Work Environment & Benefits
- Full-time position, Monday through Saturday (schedule may vary by season)
