The Position
MJ Hughes Construction is hiring a motivated and seasoned manager to join our team as a Sr. Project Manager preferably someone living in the Tri Cities, Yakima or Vancouver Washington area.
Remote work is anticipated for this position but only for candidates living in the region with the ability to travel to our projects throughout central Washington will be considered, please do not apply if you are not within 4 hours driving distance to the central Washington region or willing to relocate.

Our highest revenue customers are Washington State Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Department which are both forecasting a 35% increase in projects constructed in 2023.

Core Daily
Responsibilities
- Participate in estimating and RFP processes
- Be accountable for project level profit/loss and schedule
- Create and maintain project schedules in MS Project or Primaveria
- Prepare work plans, material documentation and other submittals for project owners
- Oversee project buy-out, close-out and approval of all large purchase orders
- Report to executive team monthly on project status including schedule status, expected vs actual costs, forecasted contract value, and other issues
- Recognize, estimate and negotiate change orders
- Approve and code vendor invoices, review timecards from field for accuracy
- Collaborate with co-workers, vendors and owners to identify ways to make the project successful for everyone
- Utilize HCSS Heavy Bid, HCSS Heavy Job, Spectrum, Blue Beam, MS Project and Primavera software’s on a frequent basis
Minimum Requirements Include
- Candidate should have 5+ years of prior experience managing multiple projects with an emphasis in concrete or steel structures and repair/restoration of same
- Ability to travel (10% of time) to job sites in Washington
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- MS Office skills
- Scheduling skills using either MS Project or Primavera programs
- Personal drive to deliver projects safely, and on budget
- Read and interpret scope of work as laid out in contract plans and specifications
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors and co-workers
- Work with estimators in regard to constructability, man hours needed, subcontractor and supplier selection
- Oversee administrative deliverables (submittals, daily reports, etc.)
- Experience with HCSS (Heavy Bid
- Heavy Job and Dexter&Cheney (Spectrum)) software is desired but not required
