About the Role
The Sales Specialist is a high-visibility, fast-paced, and commercial-centric role focused on expanding the platform’s merchant ecosystem. Based in Colombo, you will own the end-to-end B2B sales lifecycle—from cold-outreach and territory mapping to pitch delivery, contract negotiation, and successful onboarding.
This is not a passive relationship-management role; it is for an active "closer" who acts as a consultative business partner, helping local restaurants and merchants leverage digital platform capabilities to unlock new revenue streams and dramatically increase their local market share.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-Cycle Sales Ownership: Lead the entire sales lifecycle for potential restaurant and merchant partners, moving prospects smoothly from initial identification and qualification to negotiation and live onboarding.
- Consultative Pitching: Conduct professional sales presentations, demonstrating the platform’s return on investment (ROI), demographic reach, and commercial value proposition to prospective merchants.
- Deal Closing & Integration: Confidently handle objections, negotiate commission rates and commercial terms, and ensure all partner integration paperwork is accurately completed.
- Territory Mapping: Design and execute localized territory plans to systematically penetrate targeted zones, commercial hubs, and suburban centers.
- Pipeline Discipline: Maintain a highly organized, transparent, and data-driven sales pipeline, actively utilizing CRM systems to document interactions and forecast monthly conversions.
- Target Achievement: Consistently meet and exceed weekly and monthly acquisition, activation, and volume targets, driving incremental growth for the region.
- Trend Analysis: Monitor local culinary trends, popular dining hot-spots, consumer demand patterns, and competitive movements to strategically target high-value anchor merchants.
- Regional Outpost Travel: Travel within Colombo and to adjacent regions to execute ground-level acquisition drives and support regional network scaling.
- Cross-Functional Feedback: Partner with the Operations, Marketplace, and Account Management teams to communicate on-ground challenges and merchant feedback to optimize the onboarding journey.
- Best-Practice Sharing: Actively participate in sales stand-ups, sharing successful pitch angles, objection-handling strategies, and regional growth tactics with the team.
- Team Enablement: Support the growth of the overall sales force by mentoring junior sales representatives and onboarding specialists.

Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Management, or an equivalent professional qualification (SLIM/CIM).
- Experience: 2–4 years of successful B2B sales, corporate business development, or high-volume merchant acquisition experience (prior exposure to FMCG sales, retail, or tech startups is a major advantage).
- Language Proficiency: Native fluency in Sinhala is essential to effectively build trust and communicate with local merchant partners.
- Fluency in English is preferred for corporate reporting, and basic-level proficiency in Tamil will be an advantage.
