The successful candidate for this position will excel at creating and closing new opportunities. By using a consultative approach to selling, this person will use their expertise to identify and qualify leads in the Corporate, Government and Sport market segments based in Woodmead or Rosebank.
To ensure optimum sales on a short- and long-term basis within the agreed markets adhering to stated hotel sales plans.
To be fully conversant with the Hotel Working Plan and overall financial / business mix objectives.
To maintain a minimum of 20 sales calls per week on new and regular clients. To ensure that two new company contracts are made each month.
To make regular calls on established clients at least once every six weeks.
To participate in sales blitzes as directed by the Director of Operations.
To report back on local and other relevant conditions / competition. To visit other hotels for leads and competitor information.
To ensure all master information files are kept up to date and to adhere to the established filing and trace systems ensuring that the correct procedure is followed.
To assist with in-house sales activities, promoting the facilities by showing clients the hotels and entertaining to lunch or dinner when necessary.
To submit a monthly report on all sales activities and assist with the compilation of company room night statistics each month.
To assist in the organisation of sales functions and other promotional events.
To attend Sales Department Meetings regularly.
To assist in carrying out of the Guest Relations function.
To know the hotels layout and the facilities available.
To be fully conversant with fire, health, and safety procedures.
To carry out other reasonable duties or requests as directed by the General Manager, or the Director of Operations
Experience in Corporate, Government and Sport Sales
Excellent knowledge of selling techniques and procedures.
Good communication skills, social skills.
Organisation and planning ability.
Creative and outgoing.
Approachable and good listening techniques.
Be in possession of an academic matric certificate and the relevant tertiary educational qualification.
Essential to have a minimum of 2 years Hospitality or Travel Industry experience.
Have a general understanding of the Travel and Hospitality sales arenas.
Be computer literate (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
Highly motivated and performance driven.
Be proactive solution orientated.
Be able to operate within an extremely pressurized environment.
Have a positive attitude.
Be efficient, accurate and punctual.
Be well groomed and well spoken.
