About the team

This role sits within UK Investment Banking & Corporate Broking (“UKIB&CB”), part of Investec's Listed Client Group (“LCG”). Working hand in hand with our Research and Equities colleagues, the team advises a broad base of corporate clients on general corporate broking matters and a range of activities including the raising of finance, mergers & acquisitions, and restructurings.

It is a collaborative, close-knit environment where you will gain meaningful exposure to clients, transactions and senior stakeholders across the bank.

What will I be doing?

Reporting to the Co-Heads of UK Investment Banking & Corporate Broking, you will work collaboratively with our client teams to provide advice and build relationships with existing and potential clients. You will support the team across the full lifecycle of corporate broking and advisory work – from origination and pitching through to the successful execution of capital raisings, M&A and restructurings.

Key responsibilities include

• Assist the client team in maintaining and further developing relationships with existing clients.
• Assist in the preparation of client proposals and pitches.
• Assist the client team in the successful execution of transactions (capital raisings, M&A, etc.) for clients and potential clients, including the preparation and review of transaction documentation.
• Assist in the review of client communication with the market.
• Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and regulators as required.
• Provide clients with advice on market and regulatory issues as required.
• Assist client teams in advising corporate clients on their relationships with investors and the marketplace.
• Assist client teams in communicating with institutional investors regarding corporate clients (both in the ordinary course of corporate broking and in transactions).
• Maintain up-to-date sector knowledge, market and industry practice, and commercial awareness.
• Develop an understanding of Investec's broader capabilities.
• Ensure communications with clients, intermediaries and business contacts are appropriately captured in the CRM.Support the team with certain administrative responsibilities (such as standard pitch materials, transaction fee benchmarking and team agendas).
• Work actively to upskill and further your individual knowledge of investment banking.
• What do I need to bring?
• Detailed, up-to-date and practical working knowledge of all applicable rules and regulations (such as the FCA, AIM and the City Code on Takeovers).A commitment to acting with integrity at all times and embracing the philosophy of treating our clients and potential clients fairly.
• Relevant market, sector and technical knowledge.A strong understanding and practical command of financial analysis, valuation and modelling techniques.
• Excellent knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel and presentation solutions, and the ability to use relevant IT applications.
• The ability to interact effectively with internal and external clients (including other advisers) for both business generation and execution.
• This is a certified role under the FCA's Senior Managers & Certification Regime.
• You will hold, or be supported to obtain, the FCA Certificate in Corporate Finance.I am good at
