Junior Project Development Manager (NZ)

For our office in Auckland, reporting to the Senior Project Development Manager, we are looking for a:

Project Development Manager (NZ) | On-site | Auckland Your main responsibilitiesSupporting the overall advancement of Aquila’s renewable energy development activities (solar, wind, storage) in Aotearoa New Zealand. Enabling projects to be developed effectively and transitioned smoothly into construction/delivery.

This involves day-to-day support and management of project development activities, whether supported by internal functions or external parties. Activities include project and site assessments, project planning, resource consent management, environmental studies, stakeholder engagement, grid/market processes, and project design activities.

Coordination and collaboration with internal teams including Investment, Engineering, Construction, Finance, Community, ESG, Legal, Procurement, and Communications teams.

Working closely with development partners and external consultants to facilitate project development activities.

Supporting stakeholder engagements and relationships with landowners, community, iwi, councils and other interested parties.

Supporting building the business through identifying and evaluating project opportunities, assisting with commercial and technical feasibility in order to support internal decision processes requirements for investment.

Manage, update and maintain the internal project management systems, documentation filing, reporting and contract management processes.

Your qualifications and experience A passion for creating positive change through the energy transition.

Must have the right to work in New Zealand.

Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Town and Regional Planning, Environmental Planning, Commerce, Business Management, or Science preferred.3+ years of experience in project development or project management, ideally within the energy or infrastructure sectors.

Prior renewable energy industry experience, particularly solar, wind or storage is preferred. Experience in infrastructure or energy utilities also valuable.

Experience in managing multiple project development tasks.

Experience in utilising project tools and software (i.e. Monday.com, MS project, excel) to track project development progress, budget and timelines.

Experience in contract management vis-a-vis project development service providers, consultants, developers, and contractors.

Good understanding of environmental and social risk considerations specific to renewable energy projects.

Track record of effective communications with project stakeholders, including internal management, external project partners, landowners, government officials, utility representatives, and community members.

Understanding of current New Zealand regulations, resource consent processesAny experience and/or knowledge of the New Zealand energy market will be highly regarded.

Valid driver's license and ability to travel within New Zealand (and Australia) as required.
