Job Overview

The Data Analytics and Reporting Specialist supports the State Health Plan through the development of high-quality reports, dashboards, presentations, and analytical deliverables that assist leadership and operational teams in data-driven decision-making. This position serves as a key point of contact for translating business and data requests into clear, accurate, and visually effective reporting solutions.

The position is responsible for managing and prioritizing multiple reporting requests, including ad hoc analyses, recurring operational reports, and long-term analytical projects.

Responsibilities include gathering reporting requirements, extracting and validating data using SQL, organizing and analyzing datasets, and presenting findings in a professional and visually appealing format for both technical and non-technical audiences.

This role collaborates with leadership, analysts, operational teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure reporting deliverables are timely, accurate, and aligned with organizational priorities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Recommended in this Position

• Knowledge of reporting and analytics principles, including data interpretation and visualization best practices, basic knowledge of descriptive statistics
• Proficiency in SQL for querying, validating, and extracting data from relational databases.
• Ability to translate business requests into meaningful reports, dashboards, presentations, and analytical deliverables.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to balance ad hoc requests, recurring deliverables, and long-term projects simultaneously.
• Ability to prioritize work effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
• Proficiency with reporting and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Excel, or similar platforms.
• Ability to create polished, visually appealing presentations and reports for leadership and executive audiences.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and quality assurance.
• Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to gather business requirements and ask clarifying questions to ensure reporting solutions meet stakeholder needs.
• Knowledge of healthcare, claims, financial, or administrative datasets preferred.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, data governance, and confidentiality standards preferred.

Education and Experience Required

• Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, business administration, information systems, computer science, statistics, public health, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience developing reports, dashboards, presentations, or analytical deliverables.
• Demonstrated proficiency using SQL to query and validate data.
• Experience managing multiple projects or reporting requests simultaneously.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting or visualization tools.

Education and Experience Preferred

• Experience working with health plan, healthcare administrator, healthcare organization, claims, financial, and/or operational datasets.
• Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or similar business intelligence platforms.
• Experience supporting executive leadership reporting needs.
• Experience preparing visually polished presentations and executive summaries.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies or workflow management practices.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
