Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in international logistics, import operations or supply chain.
• Previous management experience.

Job Summary

Lead the import supply chain operations team and direct the transportation of goods into the distribution network. Serve as a key leader partnering with international carriers, freight forwarders, drayage providers, and transload operators to maintain high service levels and execute global logistics strategies.

Develop processes to optimize cost and service performance, ensure customs compliance, and mitigate global supply chain risk.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

• Uses systems, reporting, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor operational performance, identifies trends, and implements corrective actions to improve efficiency.
• Leads continuous process improvement initiatives that enhance service levels, reduces international transportation costs, and strengthen overall network resilience.
• Oversees inbound freight operations from purchase order creation through delivery to distribution centers, providing escalation support to resolve complex logistical issues.
• Builds and manages relationships with international service providers, including freight forwarders, ocean/air carriers, customs brokers, and drayage partners, through defined service reviews and performance management.
• Ensures operational compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and documentation controls
• Partners cross-functionally with sourcing, planning, merchandising, finance, and domestic distribution teams to support product flow and minimize supply chain disruption.
• Coaches and develops team members to build technical capability, strengthen execution, and maintain clear performance expectations and accountability.

• Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff.

Work Environment

• Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
• Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
• Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

• Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
