The Office of Innovation & Technology (OIT) is the central IT agency for the City of Philadelphia headed by the Chief Information Officer (CIO). OIT oversees all major information and communications technology initiatives for the City of Philadelphia - increasing the effectiveness of the information technology infrastructure, where the services provided are advanced, optimized, and responsive to the needs of the City of Philadelphia’s businesses, residents, and visitors.
OIT responsibilities include: identifying the most effective approach for implementing new information technology directions throughout city government; improving the value of the city’s technology assets and the return on the city’s technology investments; ensuring data security continuity; planning for continuing operations in the event of disruption of information technology or communications services; and supporting accountable, efficient and effective government across every city department, board, commission and agency.OIT’s Project Management Office (PMO) has the responsibility to assist departments and agencies of the City in the implementation of significant technology projects and to undertake the project management of infrastructure or IT departmental initiatives as directed by the Deputy CIO - Chief Project Management Officer.
IT Infrastructure Project Managers are the leaders of transformative, critical, in-depth IT projects across the City, and are needed to analyze and document business needs and processes, organize around problem/opportunity, plan and remediate troubled projects, and ensure new initiatives are planned, launched and executed correctly.
These projects range in size and complexity from simple, straightforward software updates to enterprise-wide, multi-million-dollar large-scale platform implementations.
