Are you an experienced engineer who thrives on building scalable systems and crafting seamless user experiences?

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Search Team and help shape how millions of guests discover their next perfect getaway. As a leading holiday rentals company, search isn't just a utility on our platforms, it's the heartbeat of our booking journey.

Our Search Product Team is responsible for orchestrating the search experience across our diverse portfolio of brands, connecting guests with more than 100,000 properties, including cottages, luxury lodges and holiday parks.

We build and optimise everything from lightning-fast location queries and feature filtering to high-performance price sorting, availability matching and cutting-edge, machine-learning-driven recommendation algo rithms.

The Role & Responsibilities

You'll work across the entire product lifecycle, collaborating on robust backend services while helping to deliver a slick, intuitive and high-performing customer experience. If you enjoy solving complex data retrieval, filtering and multi-brand indexing challenges at scale, while directly impacting the customer journey, we'd love to have you on board.

Day-to-Day, You'll

• Work as part of a full-stack product team responsible for building innovative products that deliver exceptional experiences for our guests and property owners.
• Help shape the overall architecture and technical strategy for our Search platform.
• Drive engineering best practices, including CI/CD, Test-Driven Development, cloud-native architectures and pair/mob programming.
• Mentor and support the growth of graduate, junior and mid-level engineers.
• Be an active member of the engineering community and contribute to the wider technology culture at Awaze. Collaborate closely with Product, Data Science, Analytics and Design teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.

Skills & Experience we're looking for

You'll enjoy leading in pairs and mobs, thrive in an autonomous product engineering team and love solving complex problems, and we have plenty of those.

We're currently looking for 2 x Senior Engineers (1 x Full stack & back end weighted and 1 x Full stack & front end weighted), with significant commercial experience building large-scale distributed systems and / or front end facing applications, alongside experience in a mixture of the following:

• Building applications in any modern programming language, with a willingness to quickly get up to speed with our stack (Java, Kotlin, TypeScript, React).
• Experience with OpenSearch, Elasticsearch or similar search technologies would be useful.
• Experience with AWS and cloud-native technologies, including ECS, API Gateway and CloudFront.
• Building, securing and operating cloud-scale applications and infrastructure as code.
• Collaborating with Data Science, Analytics and Design teams to deliver measurable outcomes.
• Applying modern engineering quality practices, including pairing, TDD and BDD.
