Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager

Location: San Francisco & Peninsula, CA

Salary: $70,000-$130,000 DOE

The company is hiring a Project Engineer to support high-end custom residential, winery, and hospitality projects in San Francisco and on the Peninsula.

This is an established Northern California general contractor known for complex, high-quality builds and self-performed finish carpentry. You’ll split your time between the office and job sites, working closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, architects, owners, and subcontractors.

Depending on experience, this role may be hired at the Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager level.

What You’ll Do

• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and project documents
• Coordinate with architects, consultants, subcontractors, and field teams
• Track costs, scope changes, contracts, and schedule updates
• Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, and follow-up items
• Support estimating, bid solicitation, and preconstruction
• Help drive closeout, including punch lists, warranties, as-builts, and O&M manuals
• At the APM level, support budgeting, forecasting, owner billings, and pay applications

What We’re Looking For

• 2-5 years of construction Project Engineer experience
• Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent experience
• Strong communication, writing, organization, and follow-through
• Comfort with project management software, Microsoft Office, and scheduling tools
• Field experience, or a real interest in spending time on site
• Experience with CAD, BIM, Bluebeam, Procore, MS Project, or P6 is a plus

Compensation & Benefits

• $70,000-$130,000 salary, depending on experience
