Director, Supply Chain Engineering
Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid – minimum 4 days onsite per week)
Travel: Up to 25%
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Director of Supply Chain Engineering to lead the strategy and execution of engineering initiatives across a large-scale distribution network.
This role is responsible for driving operational excellence through industrial engineering, network optimization, capacity planning, warehouse automation, and engineering governance while partnering with cross-functional teams to support long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
- Develop and execute the supply chain engineering strategy to support network growth and operational performance.
- Lead Industrial Engineering, Network Optimization, Capacity Planning, Automation, and Facility Design functions.
- Establish engineering standards, governance, and best practices to improve productivity, consistency, and scalability.
- Build, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering teams through coaching, succession planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Network Optimization & Capacity Planning
- Lead network design, facility planning, and optimization projects to improve throughput, service levels, capacity, and cost efficiency.
- Develop long-term capacity strategies aligned with business growth, labour requirements, and operational constraints.
- Support facility expansions, start-ups, and network redesign initiatives.
Automation & Operational Excellence
- Drive warehouse automation and material handling strategies to improve productivity, safety, and operational scalability.
- Partner with Supply Chain Systems and IT teams to implement automation and engineering solutions.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency, labour productivity, and service performance.
Analytics & Capital Planning
- Establish engineering KPIs, scorecards, and reporting to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Develop business cases for automation investments, facility improvements, and network optimization projects.
- Manage engineering capital priorities in partnership with Finance and business stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Act as the engineering subject matter expert for supply chain leadership on network strategy, automation, facility design, and operational performance.
- Collaborate with Operations, Transportation, Inventory Management, Finance, Merchandising, IT, and Supply Chain Systems to align engineering initiatives with business objectives.
- Present engineering recommendations, investment opportunities, and strategic insights to executive leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Logistics, Business, or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in Supply Chain Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
- At least 5 years' experience leading engineering teams and enterprise-wide operational initiatives.
- Experience supporting large-scale distribution networks, facility design, warehouse automation, capacity planning, and network optimization.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, financial analysis, and change management capabilities.
- Professional certifications in Engineering, Supply Chain, Lean, Six Sigma, or Project Management are advantageous.
