The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and motivated General Accountant to play a key role within our finance team. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented accountant with strong analytical and communication skills. The General Accountant will assist with the maintenance of accurate and complete financial records, tax compliance, payroll processing, and the financial reporting function.

The General Accountant will identify issues, develop proposed solutions where appropriate and bring to the attention of the Controller.

Key Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Controller, the duties and responsibilities of the General Accountant include, but are not limited to the following: Prepare journal entries, reconciliations and other financial information;
• Prepare payroll including related remittances and reporting;
• Prepare customer invoices, post customer payments and process vendor invoices and payments.
• Provide backup for other accounts receivable and accounts payable duties as required;
• Prepare and file HST returns;
• Provide support for the year end work of external accountants by gathering and organizing requested documentation;
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting processes;
• Identify opportunities for efficiency or process improvement.

• Qualifications & Experience Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting;
• Minimum Two (2) years of experience in accounting, accounts receivable and/or accounts payable;
• Working knowledge of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices;
• Excellent analytical skills;
• Strong aptitude to learn with a collaborative mindset;
• Superior attention to detail with the ability to identify errors and areas of improvement;
• Strong team orientation with the ability to collaborate with team members across the organization;
• Proven ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines;
• Advanced user of the Microsoft Office suite applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point);
• Previous experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Quickbooks or Sage is considered an asset;

Salary range

• $60,000 to $75,000Extended health and dental coverage
