Hiring: Principal Software Engineer – Hands-on C#/.NET, Azure & Microservices (Hybrid | West Los Angeles, CA)

We are actively hiring an experienced Principal Software Engineer for a 12+ month contract opportunity with our client in West Los Angeles, CA.

Location: West Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid – Local candidates only)

Duration: 12+ Months

Bill Rate: $80/hr on 1099 / C2C

Role Overview

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to provide technical leadership for the Firewire Engineering Team, building secure, scalable, and highly available payment processing platforms supporting some of America's leading technology companies.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing distributed backend systems, developing REST APIs, leading DevOps initiatives, and mentoring engineering teams while driving platform reliability and automation.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop scalable backend services and REST APIs using C#/.NET.

Lead technical initiatives around CI/CD, DevOps, release engineering, and platform reliability.

Build secure, resilient microservices running on Microsoft Azure.

Develop and integrate automated testing frameworks into CI/CD pipelines.

Implement monitoring, observability, and alerting solutions.

Collaborate with QA, Security, Infrastructure, and Product teams.

Mentor engineers and establish engineering best practices.

Work within an AI-driven SDLC utilizing tools such as GitHub Copilot.

Lead API automation, integration testing, and platform engineering initiatives.

Required Qualifications

8+ years of Software Engineering experience.

2+ years leading technical teams or engineering initiatives.

Strong hands-on experience with

C#

.NET

SQL Server

Microsoft Azure

REST APIs

Microservices

OAuth2

GitHub Actions

CI/CD

DevOps

API Automation

Experience with multithreading, distributed systems, and message queuing.

Knowledge of Datadog or similar observability platforms.

Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments using Jira.

Strong understanding of secure software development (PCI DSS, SOC2).

Preferred

FinTech or Payment Processing experience.

Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Payments.

Platform Engineering.

Release Management.

Open-source contributions.

AI-assisted software development experience.
