Senior Earthworks Operations Manager

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Earthworks Operations Manager to lead and oversee large-scale earthmoving and excavation projects. This pivotal role involves managing all aspects of earthworks operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and within scope.

As a key leader in construction management, you will coordinate with project teams, clients, and subcontractors to deliver exceptional results while maintaining strict adherence to safety standards and project schedules. Your expertise in construction estimating, project scheduling, and site management will drive operational excellence across multiple projects.

MUST BE WILLING TO RELOCATE AS PROJECTS RUN ALONG THE EAST COAST

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and supervision of earthworks operations on construction sites, ensuring alignment with project specifications and timelines
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to develop detailed construction schedules
• Oversee daily site activities, including equipment utilization, material handling, and workforce management to optimize productivity
• Review blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate interpretation of project requirements and compliance with design standards
• Manage contracts related to earthworks activities, including scope of work, change orders, and cost control measures using HeavyBid or comparable estimating tools
• Implement safety protocols and conduct regular site inspections to uphold health and safety regulations at all times

Skills/Requirements

• Extensive experience in construction site management with a focus on earthworks or civil construction projects, 10 plus years' experience
• Proven leadership over superintendents, foremen, equipment operators & multiple field crews
• Strong understanding of production rates, equipment utilization, manpower planning, cost control, and schedule performance.
• Experience with large commercial, industrial, warehouse, infrastructure or heavy civil projects.
• Deep understanding of contracts, construction safety standards, and site logistics coordination
• Ability to solve problems, coordinate with PMs/Clients, and keep several projects moving within a budget & schedule.
