HMP Belmarsh is a Category A prison in London, with capacity for 773 males.HMP Belmarsh is a busy maximum security prison and we are recruiting for a Healthcare Assistant to support to wider healthcare team. Ideal candidate will be phlebotomy trained.

HoursThis position is full time working 37.5 hours per weekLong shifts 0700 - 1900Monday - Sunday on a rota basis.

What you'll be doing

As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

• Deliver exceptional care to patients, both in the healthcare department and on the wings
• Facilitate clinics, including bloods, observations (obs), ECGs, NHS Health checks etc
• Be involved in the implementation of clinical care packages
• Support the nursing team with all aspects of care Act as a second checker in pharmacy as required
• Support receptions (new patients entering the prison) and assist with triaging new patients

Our new Healthcare Assistant will:

• Ideally hold an NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or Care Certificate
• Have experience within phlebotomy - this is highly desirable!
• Have experience in a clinical care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting
• Have clinical experience - venepuncture, ECGs etc
