Senior Accountant- 12 Months

Our client, a leading mining organization is looking for a Senior Accountant to join them on a 12 month contract. The role will be working hybrid 3 days at their offices in downtown Toronto.

Responsibilities

• Manage month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Support the Oracle ERP implementation by participating in testing, validating financial data, and assisting with process improvements.
• Collaborate with Finance, IT, and project teams to ensure a smooth system transition.
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve internal controls.
• Assist with issue resolution during the implementation and post-go-live stabilization.
• Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting requests as required.
• Maintain compliance with accounting policies and internal controls throughout the transformation process.

Qualifications

• CPA designation preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a Senior Accountant or similar role.
• Experience working within the mining, natural resources, or asset-intensive industry is considered a strong asset.
• Strong experience with Oracle ERP or another large enterprise ERP system (SAP, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.).
• Previous involvement in an ERP implementation, upgrade, or finance transformation project is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting and month-end close processes.
