Express Employment Professionals are currently recruiting for an Accountant / Bookkeeper on behalf of a well-established public accounting firm in Waterloo. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working with a diverse client base while being part of a collaborative and supportive team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and working papers for a variety of clients.
• Maintain accurate bookkeeping records and complete account reconciliations.
• Prepare corporate and personal tax returns and assist with tax planning initiatives.
• Work closely with business owners and clients to provide exceptional accounting support and service.
• Utilize accounting and tax software to complete engagements efficiently and accurately.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance workflow efficiencies.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure deadlines are met and client expectations are exceeded.
• Maintain organized client files and documentation.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, ideally within a public accounting environment.
• Experience preparing financial statements.
• Strong understanding of Canadian corporate and personal taxation.
• Experience supporting owner-managed businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and trusts is considered an asset.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks (Online and Desktop) and Sage.
• Experience with CaseWare, TaxPrep, Doc-It, or similar accounting and tax software is preferred.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Comfortable learning and leveraging technology to improve client service and internal efficiencies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong client-service mindset.
