Now that our doors are open, we are looking for a Marketing Director who can make more peoplecurious enough to walk through them.
This person will lead the strategy and daily execution required to grow awareness, visitation, ticketrevenue and long-term affinity for the Ministry of Awe. You will translate an experience that isintentionally difficult to explain into a story people cannot resist discovering for themselves.
It is part brand stewardship, part audience development, part cultural marketing and partperformance engine. You must be as comfortable protecting mystery as you are reading adashboard—and understand that creativity and commercial accountability belong in the same room.
Reporting initially to MoA leadership/search committee, and ultimately to the Executive Directoronce that role is in place, the Marketing Director will be accountable for marketing strategy,execution and performance.
You will work closely with Meg Saligman, Founder and Visionary Director, whose imagination,artistic leadership and original vision are inseparable from the MoA. Meg will continue to play anessential role in shaping the strategic direction, creative expression and storytelling of the brand.
The right Marketing Director will know how to translate that vision into clear, compellingcommunications building the structure necessary to protect what makes MoA extraordinary whilehelping it reach a much larger audience.
This is a highly collaborative relationship, but the reporting line is clear: the Marketing Directorreports to and is accountable to the Executive Director for marketing strategy, execution andperformance.
What You’ll Be Responsible ForTurn wonder into attendance.
Develop and manage an integrated annual marketing plan that drives ticket sales, repeat visitationand sustainable audience growth across paid, owned, earned and partner channels.
Build a brand people want to enter.
Steward MoA’s distinctive voice and visual identity across every public touchpoint—from campaignsand content to the website, email, signage and the communications visitors encounter before andafter their experience.
Know who is walking through the door and who is not yet here.
Use ticketing, website, social, email and audience data to identify opportunities, sharpen targetingand continuously improve marketing performance. Establish clear goals, reporting rhythms andactionable recommendations.
Create content worthy of the experience.
Lead an editorial and social strategy that captures the energy of MoA without explaining away itsmystery. Oversee campaign development, creative production, photography, video and day-to-daystorytelling.
Make the story travel beyond the building.
Develop an annual earned media strategy by identifying newsworthy stories, seasonalopportunities, partnerships and cultural moments that can extend MoA’s reach. Direct and manageoutside PR resources, providing clear strategic briefs and priorities while measuring the impact ofearned media efforts.
Turn locals into believers, repeat visitors and ambassadors.
Develop strategies that convert Philadelphia residents into active advocates for the Ministry byencouraging repeat visitation, guest referrals, memberships, neighborhood pride and word-of-mouthmomentum.
Make Philadelphia and its visitors take notice.
Cultivate relationships with tourism organizations, hotels, concierges, neighborhood partners,schools, community organizations, cultural institutions and other partners that can introduce newaudiences to the Ministry.
Make every dollar work harder.
Manage the marketing budget and external agency, media, freelance, PR and production partners.
Balance experimentation with discipline, moving quickly when something works and changingcourse when it does not.
Connect the inside to the outside.
Work on-site with Visitor Experience, Programming, Development, Retail and Operations so thatcampaigns reflect what is actually happening in the building—and the guest experience fulfills whatthe marketing promises. Lead and manage MoA’s in-house marketing team, providing clearpriorities, direction, coaching and accountability across day-to-day marketing activity.
Capture the audience already at the door.
Translate MoA’s brand momentum into consistent ticket sales by building practical strategies tocapture visitors already moving through Old City, grow tourism audiences, activate hotels andconcierges, and convert nearby cultural, dining and hospitality traffic into attendance.
