AVOM (Autonomous Vehicle Operations Manager)

Responsibilities

• Oversee the end-to-end operation of autonomous vehicle fleets, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance with all relevant regulations.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service quality across autonomous transportation systems.
• Coordinate with transportation planning teams to align fleet deployment with demand forecasts, production schedules, and distribution needs.
• Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PL), NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier), and other supply chain partners to ensure seamless integration of autonomous vehicle operations.
• Utilize transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP platforms, and supply chain analytics tools to monitor fleet performance and identify areas for continuous improvement.
• Lead team management efforts by supervising operations staff, dispatchers, and maintenance personnel; foster a culture of safety, accountability, and innovation.
• Oversee budgeting processes related to fleet operations, procurement of autonomous vehicle technology, maintenance costs, and process improvements.
• Implement process management initiatives using Lean principles to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
• Ensure inventory control for parts and supplies necessary for fleet maintenance; coordinate procurement activities to support ongoing operations.
• Drive continuous improvement projects by analyzing data trends in logistics management, freight handling, shipping & receiving processes, and warehouse distribution activities.

Skills

• Proven experience in warehouse supervision or distribution operations with a focus on transportation management systems (TMS) and warehouse management systems (WMS).
• Strong understanding of supply chain management principles including demand planning, production planning, inventory management, and procurement processes.
• Expertise in managing freight logistics, shipping & receiving procedures, fleet management software (including AS400 or equivalent), and materials management tools.
• Demonstrated ability in process improvement methodologies such as Lean or continuous improvement frameworks; experience with ERP systems is highly desirable.
• Excellent managerial communication skills; capable of leading teams effectively while fostering a collaborative environment.
• Familiarity with warehouse experience including supervising warehouse operations, dispatching, order fulfillment, forklift operation certification preferred.
• Knowledge of transportation planning strategies including 3PL coordination, NVOCC operations, distribution management, and logistics analytics.
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with supply chain analytics tools is advantageous.
• Ability to manage budgets effectively while maintaining high standards for safety and operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.
