US HR Business Partner

If you are looking for a high-level, "sit-at-the-desk" strategic role, this is not it. We are looking for a true, autonomous execution machine to manage day-to-day people operations, employee relations, and compliance for our growing US team (~80 employees and scaling fast).

As the primary on-the-ground HR owner in the US, you will be the vital operational link between our local team and our China-based HR shared services team.

Key Responsibilities

• Frontline People Operations & Compliance: Run the entire end-to-end employee lifecycle. Personally execute all onboarding, offboarding, performance improvement plans (PIPs), and terminations. Act as the first point of contact for daily employee relations and compliance enforcement.
• Immigration & Visa Tracking: Actively monitor employee work authorizations (H-1B, OPT, CPT). Maintain updated databases, proactively drive visa renewal timelines with external lawyers, and resolve status risks directly.
• Cross-Border Payroll & Admin: Act as the direct operational bridge with our China-based payroll execution team. Gather data, track headcount changes, and perform monthly payroll reconciliations to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Manager & Employee Support: Provide daily, practical guidance to managers on how to handle compliance, deliver feedback, and document performance according to US/California labor laws.
• HR Logistics: Keep digital employee files pristine, ensure accurate data entry in HR systems, and handle administrative HR requests from both the local team and HQ.

Must-Have Qualifications

• Experience: 3-5+ years of hands-on HR Generalist / People Operations experience in the US.
• Legal & Compliance Depth: Deep, practical knowledge of US Federal and State labor regulations. California experience is an absolute must-have.
• Immigration Management: Direct experience tracking, processing, and coordinating work visas (H-1B, OPT, CPT) directly with external immigration attorneys.
• Language & Culture: Fluent Chinese speaker (Mandarin) and fluent English speaker. Exceptional cross-cultural communication skills are required to work closely with our global teams.
• Execution Mindset: A true "doer" who thrives in autonomy and genuinely prefers operational, day-to-day troubleshooting over high-level strategy.

Preferred Skills

• SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus.
• Experience in tech, high-growth startups, or multinational corporate environments.
