Role Description

The Business Development Manager is a full-time, hybrid role based in Auckland, New Zealand, with flexibility for part of the work to be completed from home. This role is responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, nurturing existing client relationships, and expanding the company’s market presence.

Day-to-day tasks include researching potential markets, generating and qualifying leads, preparing and delivering proposals and presentations, and negotiating commercial terms in alignment with company policies. The Business Development Manager collaborates closely with internal teams to align offerings with client needs, track pipeline activity, and report on performance metrics.

This role also involves contributing to strategic planning, attending industry events, and providing feedback on product and service improvements based on market insights.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in business development, sales, or account management, preferably in a B2B environment.
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at multiple levels.
• Proficiency in market research, lead generation, and opportunity qualification, using digital tools and data-driven approaches.
• Ability to prepare clear proposals, presentations, and business cases, and to negotiate terms that support sustainable growth.
• Sound analytical and problem-solving skills, with competence in using CRM systems and productivity software (e.g., Microsoft 365 or similar).
• Self-motivated and organized, able to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Commerce, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience working in New Zealand or similar markets and familiarity with local business practices is an advantage.
