Company Summary
Our client is California’s leading producer of concrete masonry units, interlocking concrete pavers, decorative site wall units, and segmental planter wall units.
The company is currently seeking to hire a full-time HR/Recruiting Manager. This position is an in-person role and will be based out of their Corporate Headquarters. This position will be required to periodically travel between their Southern California company locations.
- ** Please note that this role will primarily focus on recruiting & sourcing candidates for open positions. (approximately 70% of the time). ***
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain, update, and distribute the employee handbook.
- Consult with firm labor attorneys to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws.
- Administer and ensure employee compliance with all human resources policies and procedures.
- Provide advice to managers and staff on employee relations issues.
- Support both Union and Non-union employees.
- Ensure job postings comply with the state mandates.
- Oversee the recruitment process for open positions.
- Manage pre-employment screening protocols, manage onboarding, and oversee new hire orientation.
- Coordinate with and advise department managers on all human resources issues.
- Manage the employee disciplinary process.
- Manage and oversee time off requests including, but not limited to vacation, sick, and leave of absence, including FMLA, CFRA, PFL, and PDL.
- Administer companywide employee benefit plans, workers compensation and COBRA to ensure compliance with labor laws, privacy laws, and ERISA.
- Monitor all workers compensation claims and return to work matters closely with our workers comp TPA.
- Closely interact with the Safety Manager on all accident-related matters.
- Participate during annual renewal process for the Company’s health and welfare plans.
- Manage open enrollment process for all employee benefit programs including health and welfare plans and retirement plans.
- Act as liaison between insurance broker and employees on questions regarding employee benefit plans.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree desired
- 5 years of human resources experience
- Experience managing leave programs
- Knowledge of California labor laws
- Navigate nuanced workplace challenges
- Champion workplace culture by designing alternative solutions to complex HR issues
- Ability to forge strong, trusting, collaborative relationships at all levels across the organization
- Ability to organize, prioritize and complete tasks under short time constraints
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required
