Epic Refuel Workstream Project Manager

Overview

We are seeking experienced Workstream Project Managers to support a large-scale Epic Refuel ("Back to Foundation") transformation initiative.

These individuals will lead one of several workstreams, including Ambulatory, Inpatient, Revenue Cycle, or Security, partnering closely with operational leaders, application teams, informatics, and executive stakeholders to drive the successful delivery of optimization and Foundation build initiatives.

This role will oversee teams of Epic analysts responsible for refuel-focused build work, ensuring projects remain on schedule, risks are mitigated, decisions are escalated appropriately, and organizational objectives are achieved. Successful candidates will possess strong healthcare IT project management experience, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and a proven ability to lead large-scale Epic initiatives.

Travel Requirement: Approximately 25% travel throughout the engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day execution of a designated Epic Refuel workstream (Ambulatory, Inpatient, Revenue Cycle, or Security).
• Manage and coordinate teams of Epic analysts performing Foundation alignment, optimization, configuration, and build activities.
• Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, milestones, RAID logs, and executive status reporting.
• Facilitate workstream governance meetings, decision-making sessions, and stakeholder communications.
• Partner with operational, clinical, and IT leadership to align priorities and drive timely issue resolution.
• Monitor project scope, schedule, dependencies, risks, and resource utilization across the workstream.
• Coordinate build readiness, testing activities, training dependencies, and deployment planning.
• Drive accountability across analyst teams and ensure deliverables are completed on time and within scope.
• Support organizational change management efforts and adoption of standardized Epic Foundation workflows.
• Escalate risks, barriers, and resource concerns to program leadership while providing mitigation recommendations.
• Collaborate with other Refuel workstreams to manage cross-functional dependencies and enterprise impacts.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of healthcare IT project management experience.
• Experience leading Epic-related projects, implementations, optimizations, or Refuel initiatives.
• Proven experience managing analyst teams and coordinating technical build activities.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies, governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively across clinical, operational, and technical teams.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and executive-facing skills.
• Experience developing and maintaining detailed project schedules and status reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Epic Security experience
• Experience supporting large-scale healthcare transformation programs.
• PMP, PMI-ACP, Lean, Six Sigma, or similar project management certification.
