Product Owner (Jira, Hardware/Label Printers)

This will be a hybrid role just north of Atlanta

This is a 6 month contract that can be extended based on the client's budget combined with the candidate's performance, etc.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Product Owner - not a project manager, not a product/roadmap strategist - to define the requirements that make this vendor integration succeed.

The ideal candidate will have background as a Systems engineer: someone who can reason precisely about how our software must behave at the vendor interface and turn that into clear, testable requirements and user stories.

What You'll Do

• Author detailed requirements and user stories for the vendor integration, with unambiguous acceptance criteria.
• Define the integration boundary jointly with the vendor and our engineering team.
• Break the work into well-scoped stories.
• Own backlog grooming in Jira - write, refine, prioritize, sequence.
• Partner with QA so requirements are verifiable, including validation of the source code handed to the vendor.
• Surface risks, gaps, and vendor dependencies.

Qualifications

Required

• Technical requirements/user-story writing for hardware-adjacent or embedded products
• Comfortable defining integration boundaries across two organizations' codebases
• Strong Jira-based backlog management
• Systems-engineering mindset; excellent written communication
• Able to work independently against a fixed deadline

Preferred

• Experience with label/industrial printers or similar hardware.
• Experience writing specs for an external vendor to integrate against
• Background as a systems engineer, technical business analyst, or hardware-focused product owner
