Job Title: Senior Software Engineer - AI / GenAI

Location: Austin, TX or Southlake, TX (Onsite 4 Days per Week)

Rate Range: $75 to $85/hour (Rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors)

Engagement: 12-Month Contract-to-Hire | Full-Time (40 Hours/Week)

Overview

Akkodis is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - AI to support a large-scale technology modernization initiative focused on transforming critical broker-dealer platforms and core enterprise systems.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced software engineer who combines strong cloud-native development expertise with hands-on experience leveraging Generative AI, AI-assisted software development, and modern engineering practices.

In this role, you will help drive AI-enabled development workflows across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), accelerate modernization efforts, and build highly scalable systems supporting high-volume transactional environments.

You will collaborate with engineering teams, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions that directly impact mission-critical financial technology platforms.

About the Role

• Lead the adoption and implementation of AI-assisted engineering workflows across development teams.
• Develop and enhance large-scale distributed applications using modern .NET technologies and cloud-native architectures.
• Design, build, and support microservices and containerized solutions in cloud environments.
• Drive modernization initiatives involving migration from legacy platforms to contemporary distributed architectures.
• Leverage Generative AI tools and Large Language Models (LLMs) to improve software delivery, automation, testing, troubleshooting, and developer productivity.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices for highly available production systems.
• Partner with architects and engineering leaders to establish AI development standards, prompt engineering practices, and agentic workflow strategies.
• Contribute to systems supporting high-volume transaction processing within a regulated financial services environment.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience developing large-scale enterprise applications.
• 7+ years of experience with Java OR .NET development, cloud-based applications, and web services supporting high-volume, highly available systems.
• 6+ years of experience building and deploying microservices and containerized applications.
• 6+ years of experience working within CI/CD and modern DevOps delivery models.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience implementing and deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments.
• Demonstrated experience using Generative AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar tools throughout the SDLC.
• Experience leveraging AI for code generation, refactoring, unit testing, code reviews, automation, documentation, and troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of agentic AI workflows, prompt engineering, custom AI instructions, and AI-assisted software development practices.
• Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) such as GPT, Claude, Gemini, PaLM, or similar technologies.
• 2+ years of experience with cloud platforms including AWS, GCP, and/or Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF).
• 2+ years of experience working with databases such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Aerospike, or similar technologies.
• 2+ years of experience supporting enterprise modernization or transformation initiatives involving migration from legacy platforms to distributed/cloud-native environments.
• Understanding of broker-dealer operations and financial services technology environments.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
• Proven ability to influence engineering teams and drive technical best practices.

Additional Qualifications

• Experience establishing team-wide standards for AI-enabled software development.
• Background in system modernization, legacy platform migration, and cloud transformation programs.
• Experience translating design artifacts, API contracts, class models, and technical specifications into AI-assisted development workflows.
• Familiarity with highly regulated industries and mission-critical transactional platforms.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a bias toward execution and continuous improvement.
• Experience mentoring developers and collaborating across cross-functional engineering organizations.
