Business Development Manager

We are seeking a Business Development Manager to help expand our utility-scale solar and BESS EPC business across the United States. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building long-term customer relationships, developing pursuit strategies, and working cross-functionally with engineering, estimating, and construction teams to win complex EPC projects.

Reporting to the VP of Preconstruction, you will own customer engagement throughout the business development cycle while partnering with technical teams to deliver competitive proposals and successful project handoffs.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
• Understand their project pipelines, procurement strategies, commercial priorities, and long-term goals.
• Identify potential projects, competitive solicitations, or requests for proposals (RFPs) that align with the company’s expertise and capabilities.
• Evaluate strategic fit, commercial attractiveness, and key project risks.
• Maintain accurate opportunity, customer, and pipeline information in Salesforce, including pursuit status, probability, key milestones, next actions, and forecasted awards.
• Support the development and execution of EMC’s go-to-market strategy for EPC services across utility-scale solar and storage.
• Conduct market research to identify potential clients and emerging opportunities.
• Stay updated on market dynamics, competitor activities, and regulatory changes that may impact the EPC business.
• Partner closely with preconstruction, estimating, engineering, contracting, and construction teams to develop competitive and executable EPC proposals, schedules, commercial approaches, and customer presentations.
• Facilitate clear and timely communication between customers and internal teams, ensuring customer requirements, priorities, assumptions, and feedback are understood and incorporated into each opportunity.
• Lead assigned opportunities throughout the business development lifecycle, from qualification through proposal submission, customer engagement, negotiations, up to contract reward.
• Lead the planning and execution of EMC’s participation in industry conferences, trade shows, and customer events, including annual event planning, budget management, customer meeting coordination, and cross-functional participation to maximize business development opportunities.

Requirements

• 5+ years of business development, commercial, project management or preconstruction experience within the utility-scale renewable EPC industry.
• Demonstrated success developing customer relationships and supporting the pursuit and award of EPC contracts, ideally with solar and/or BESS.Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, construction, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Comfortable working in a growing organization where priorities evolve, collaboration across functions is essential, and individuals are expected to take ownership and operate with a high degree of accountability.
• Comfortable working in a bicultural organization with international teams, leveraging proven global processes while adapting them to the US market.
