Positional Overview

Our client is seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead enterprise talent strategy during a significant period of organizational growth and transformation. This individual will own talent acquisition, onboarding, learning and development, performance management, employee relations, organizational design, and change management across a distributed organization.

This role requires a credible, business-minded HR leader who can independently advise executive leaders, resolve complex people matters, and translate HR expertise into practical business outcomes. The successful candidate will combine sound risk and liability management with a thoughtful, human approach to leadership and employee experience.

Role & Responsibility

Tasks That Will Lead To Your Success

• Lead enterprise talent strategy across talent acquisition, onboarding, learning and development, performance management, succession planning, and employee relations.
• Drive organizational design and change-management initiatives supporting business growth, regional expansion, and evolving operating models.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to executive and senior leaders, independently resolving complex employee, leadership, and organizational issues.
• Lead and develop an HR organization of approximately 14 employees through two senior leaders, establishing clear accountability and strengthening team capability.
• Build strong knowledge of the company’s operations, customers, financial drivers, and business model within the first 90 to 180 days.
• Use data, business metrics, and employee insights to guide workforce decisions and measure the effectiveness of talent programs.
• Balance compliance, risk mitigation, and policy consistency with sound judgment and a people-centered approach.
• Manage HR budgets, evaluate program trade-offs, and articulate the expected return on talent and organizational investments.
• Contribute actively and credibly within the director-level peer group and broader executive leadership discussions.

Required Experience

• Approximately 7–12+ years of progressive HR experience, including meaningful leadership responsibility; depth, judgment, and breadth of experience are more important than a fixed number of years.
• Demonstrated success leading a significant organizational transformation, restructuring, or enterprise change initiative—not solely supporting one.
• Strong technical HR knowledge across talent management, employee relations, organizational design, performance management, and leadership development.
• Executive presence and the ability to advise, educate, influence, and challenge senior leaders without requiring hands-on intervention from the Vice President of HR.
• Proven ability to lead leaders, develop teams, and establish credibility in a changing environment.
• Strong business curiosity, financial literacy, and comfort managing budgets, evaluating trade-offs, and assessing ROI.
• Excellent communication, judgment, discretion, and relationship-building skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an organization of approximately 1,800 or more employees and/or $1 billion or more in revenue.
• Experience with formal change-management frameworks such as ADKAR, Kotter, McKinsey 7-S, or a comparable methodology.
• Direct experience leading an enterprise reorganization, regional restructuring, or large-scale operating-model change.
• Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a related discipline.
• Background in a company known for strong HR leadership development and people-management practices.
