They spend their time building automated tools to eliminate manual work| ensuring applications remain highly available| and leading incident response during system outages.SREs day-to-day responsibilities typically involve:
Automation: Writing code to automate repetitive tasks like system scaling| backups| and deployments so developers can focus on shipping features.
Incident Response: Participating in on-call rotations to detect| mitigate| and solve system emergencies.
Monitoring & Observability: Setting up dashboards and alerts using tools like Datadog or Prometheus to spot issues before they impact customers.
Blameless Postmortems: Investigating root causes after an outage to implement permanent fixes and prevent future occurrences.
