• We are seeking a hands-on Data Product Owner who can combine strong Product Ownership experience with SQL, data exploration, data governance, and stakeholder management.

In this role, the product is the data. You will partner with business and technical teams to identify the right data sources, evaluate data quality, define requirements, and translate business needs into clear user stories and acceptance criteria for data engineering teams.

This is not a traditional Product Owner role focused only on backlog management. The ideal candidate will be comfortable personally exploring, profiling, validating, and understanding data.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with business stakeholders to define and refine data product requirements.
• Explore data environments to identify the best sources for new data products.
• Use SQL to profile, validate, compare, and understand data.
• Write user stories, acceptance criteria, data definitions, and source-to-target documentation.
• Break large business initiatives into manageable work for engineering teams.
• Apply data governance, data quality, privacy, and compliance requirements.
• Serve as the bridge between business stakeholders, data engineers, architects, and technical teams.
• Manage competing priorities, difficult stakeholders, and conflicting opinions.
• Lead backlog refinement, prioritization, and Agile delivery activities.
• Balance business value, scalability, technical debt, and long-term sustainability.
• Define and track KPIs and OKRs for data-product performance and business impact.

Required Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of Product Ownership, technical product management, or related experience.2–3+ years of hands-on SQL experience.
• Experience exploring, profiling, validating, and evaluating data.
• Strong user-story writing and acceptance-criteria development experience.
• Experience with data management, data governance, and data quality.
• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with data engineers and architecture teams.
• Proven ability to manage difficult stakeholders and resolve conflicting priorities.
• Experience working in Agile environments.
• Ability to work onsite in Fort Worth four days per week.
