Primary Focus: Defining requirements and user stories for a vendor integration.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Contract Product Owner to support the DYMO/Rhino Industrial Printers team. This is a highly technical, hands-on role focused on defining requirements for a critical vendor integration.

This position is not intended for a Project Manager or a Product/Roadmap Strategist. The ideal candidate should possess a Systems Engineering mindset with a strong understanding of both software and firmware, enabling them to define clear, testable requirements and user stories for successful vendor integration.

Responsibilities

• Author detailed requirements and user stories for the vendor integration with clear, unambiguous acceptance criteria.
• Define the integration boundary in collaboration with the vendor and the internal engineering team.
• Break down work into well-defined and manageable user stories.
• Own Jira backlog grooming, including writing, refining, prioritizing, and sequencing user stories.
• Partner with the QA team to ensure requirements are testable and verifiable, including validation of source code provided to the vendor.
• Identify and communicate risks, gaps, and vendor dependencies throughout the engagement.

Required Qualifications

• Experience writing technical requirements and user stories for hardware-adjacent or embedded products.
• Strong understanding of both software and firmware.
• Systems Engineering mindset with the ability to analyze and define complex integrations.
• Experience defining integration boundaries across two organizations' codebases.
• Strong Jira backlog management experience.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and deliver against a fixed deadline.

The hiring team is specifically looking for a technical, hands-on Product Owner who functions more like a Systems Engineer than a traditional Product Owner. Candidates should be comfortable working at the intersection of software, firmware, and vendor integrations.
