Job Title: Functional Analyst

Location: London - Hybrid (2-3 days in office)

Contract: 12 months with possible extension.

Rate: £500 - £550 inside umbrella

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Functional Analyst to support a strategic Lending Transformation initiative focused on extending the existing PMM (Portfolio Monitoring Model) platform into a broader Front Office Portfolio Management solution.

Working within the Loans Technology and Business Applications team, you will partner closely with Business SMEs, Business Analysts, Technology teams, and external vendors to define, document, and shape business and functional requirements that support portfolio management, collateral management reporting, and regulatory initiatives.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Functional Analyst with experience across Lending, Credit Risk, Portfolio Management, or Banking Transformation programmes who enjoys working at the intersection of business and technology.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements Gathering & Analysis

• Lead workshops and discovery sessions with business stakeholders to understand current and future-state processes.
• Gather, document, and validate business requirements across multiple Front Office business units.
• Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications for technology delivery teams.
• Ensure requirements are sufficiently detailed, traceable, and aligned with project objectives and governance standards.

Stakeholder Management

• Partner with Front Office teams including:
• Real Estate Finance
• Maritime Finance
• Aviation Finance
• Project Finance
• Collaborate with Credit Risk, Finance, Regulatory Reporting, Technology teams, and third-party vendors.
• Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and facilitate consensus across multiple business areas.

Lending Transformation

• Support the evolution of SPMM from a credit monitoring tool into a broader Portfolio Management platform.
• Analyse existing lending and portfolio management processes and identify opportunities for automation and optimisation.
• Contribute to project initiation activities, governance documentation, and business case development.
• Support collateral management reporting requirements associated with regulatory and ECB-related programmes.

Project Delivery

• Track actions, risks, issues, and dependencies throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide regular progress updates, recommendations, and status reports to project leadership.
• Participate in governance forums and stakeholder review sessions.
• Work collaboratively with technology teams to assess the business impact of proposed system changes.

Required Experience

• Proven experience as a Functional Analyst, Business Analyst, or Change Analyst within Financial Services.
• Experience delivering business transformation initiatives within:
• Corporate Banking
• Commercial Lending
• Credit Risk
• Portfolio Management
• Strong requirements gathering, workshop facilitation, and process mapping skills.
• Experience engaging with senior business stakeholders and technology teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities simultaneously.

Preferred Experience

• Knowledge of loan lifecycle management processes.
• Experience with portfolio management platforms and credit monitoring solutions.
• Exposure to collateral management and regulatory reporting initiatives.
• Understanding of process automation, APIs, and digital transformation programmes.
• Experience working within large-scale banking transformation or change programmes.
