Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper Needed

We are looking for a staff accountant/bookkeeper to support small to medium-sized business clients with ongoing bookkeeping, year-end compilation engagements, corporate tax returns and personal tax preparation.

The right candidate will be organized, client-focused and comfortable using technology, including new tools and AI, to improve accuracy and efficiency.

This position will include

Providing monthly or quarterly bookkeeping support, including reconciliations, transaction review, clean-up work and yearend records;
Preparing compilation engagements, working papers and financial statements;
Preparing corporate income tax returns (T2s);
Preparing T1 personal tax returns, T4s, T5s and related filings;
Communicating with clients to request information and keep files moving;
Using QuickBooks Online, Sage, CaseWare and Taxprep;
Helping improve client service and streamline recurring work.

Ideal qualifications

Experience in public practice, bookkeeping or accounting roles;
Strong full-cycle bookkeeping skills, including reconciliations, sales tax, payroll filings and yearend adjustments;
Experience with compilation engagements, corporate tax returns and T1s;
Experience preparing T4s and T5s;
Comfort using QuickBooks Online and Sage; CaseWare and Taxprep experience is an asset;
Strong organization, communication and client service skills;
Curiosity, attention to detail and a willingness to embrace new technology.
