Sales Manager, Roads & Highways

About the role

AI Clearing is hiring a Sales Manager, Roads & Highways to lead and grow our sales activity across the vertical. This is a player-coach position. You will lead and develop a team of Account Executives while carrying your own quota, managing strategic opportunities, and owning the team’s forecast and performance. This has a clear 6-9 month path to a Director of Sales Position.

The position is full-time and based in Austin, Texas. We operate a hybrid schedule with a minimum of three days per week in the office. Regular travel to client sites, jobsites, DOT offices, and industry events is expected.

What you will do

• Lead the Roads and Highways Account Executive team while carrying and delivering against your own individual quota.
• Coach AEs on prospecting, discovery, product demonstrations, account strategy, proposals, negotiation, and deal execution.
• Run pipeline reviews and deal inspections and provide sales leadership with an accurate team forecast.
• Establish clear goals and performance expectations for the team and hold representatives accountable for results.
• Help recruit, onboard, develop, and ramp new Account Executives as the team grows.
• Build pipeline and manage opportunities across DOTs, heavy-civil contractors, highway contractors, and infrastructure owners.
• Develop relationships with stakeholders across operations, project management, construction, project controls, and executive leadership.
• Manage the full sales cycle for your accounts, from outbound prospecting and discovery through negotiation and close.
• Develop territory and account strategies covering target organizations, key contacts, active projects, and expansion opportunities.
• Partner with BDRs to create pipeline and convert qualified meetings into sales opportunities.
• Work with Marketing and Customer Success to support account engagement, effective handoffs, and long-term customer growth.
• Represent AI Clearing at industry conferences, client meetings, and jobsite visits.
• Provide sales leadership with market feedback, competitive intelligence, and insights into customer needs.

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of B2B software sales experience with a proven record of closing new business.
• Experience leading, coaching, or mentoring Account Executives, either formally as a manager or team lead or informally as a senior seller.
• Experience selling into roads, highways, civil infrastructure, heavy construction, or an adjacent construction market, or direct industry experience followed by a transition into technology sales.
• Experience managing complex sales cycles involving multiple operational, technical, and executive stakeholders.
• Strong pipeline management, forecasting, account planning, and deal-inspection discipline.
• The ability to coach others while remaining directly involved in prospecting and live deals.
• Clear, confident communication with both field-level and executive stakeholders.
• Full professional fluency in English.
• Comfort working in a greenfield environment where initiative, ownership, and consistent outbound activity are essential.
• Willingness to travel regularly to client sites, jobsites, DOT offices, and industry events.

Strongly preferred: experience selling into roads, highways, civil infrastructure, heavy construction, construction technology, or an adjacent market.
