Commercial Development Lead

AboutWe are looking for a Commercial Development Lead to fill a pivotal new role in Harakeke, Stuff's in-house agency responsible for commercial creative, content, partnerships, and production.

Working at the intersection of audience insight, editorial, product and commercial strategy, you’ll transform inputs from multiple subject matter experts into highly persuasive, market-ready platforms. Whether it’s a new sponsorship, platform, or partnership, you’ll develop it into a compelling proposition that clients want to buy and teams can confidently sell.

You'll be someone who enjoys taking a good idea and figuring out how to make it commercially successful. Curious, commercially minded, and comfortable working with different teams to solve problems and create opportunities, you’ll be strategic in approach but grounded in the real world, synthesising insights from teams across the business to develop concepts that are commercially realistic and saleable.

What You’ll Be DoingIdentify and frame Stuff-owned commercial opportunities - leading the market, audience and commercial problem framing before investment. Develop the commercial model, revenue sizing, and margin assumptions with Sales and FinanceBuild pilot structures and productise repeatable ideas so they can scale beyond a single client.

Lead proposition and offer structure, shaping the minimum viable platform and commercial packaging. Lead the sales toolkit build and go-to-market plan with Sales and Trade Marketing, ensuring a clean handover to the Commercial Strategy Lead or Sales for pitch and delivery. Monitor pilot performance and capture data-driven learnings, and recommendations.

• What We’re Looking For
• Experience in media, technology, advertising, marketing, content, or digital product management.
• Experience building sponsorship, vertical, or partnership models, with a proven track record of framing opportunities from ideation to business case
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships, manage partners, and collaborate effectively across diverse teams
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret commercial reports, dashboards, and digital audience metrics
• A critical thinker with sound judgment, proactive and continuously improves processes.

Proficient in modern workplace tools (Google Workspace, Slack), quick to adopt new systems, and proactive in utilising AI technology to drive efficiencies.

This role is based in Auckland.
