Human Resources Manager

HR Manager (Contract) – Washington, DC (Hybrid)LHH is partnering with a client in Washington, DC, to hire an experienced HR Manager for a 4 month contract assignment. This hybrid position reports to the Director of Human Resources and is an excellent opportunity for a strategic HR professional who enjoys balancing day-to-day HR operations with employee development, leadership support, and organizational initiatives.

The HR Manager will oversee a broad range of human resources functions, including employee relations, performance management, compliance, talent development, and HR programs. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who can partner with management to drive employee engagement, strengthen HR processes, and foster a positive workplace culture.

Location: Hybrid – Washington, DCDuration: 3-month contractPay Rate: $40–$55/hour (based on experience)

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, employee relations, and performance-related matters.
• Partner with leadership to identify workforce needs and implement HR strategies that support organizational goals.
• Manage the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, performance management, employee development, engagement initiatives, and offboarding.
• Lead employee relations efforts by providing guidance, resolving workplace concerns, and ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies.
• Oversee compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws while maintaining accurate HR documentation and personnel records.
• Collaborate with leadership to develop and deliver training programs focused on leadership development, compliance, professional growth, and organizational effectiveness.
• Analyze HR metrics and employee feedback to recommend process improvements that enhance engagement, retention, and productivity.
• Support organizational change initiatives and assist leadership with workforce planning and talent management strategies.
• Coordinate payroll-related activities and partner with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate processing.
• Participate in HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen HR operations and employee experience.
• Provide guidance on compensation, benefits administration, policy interpretation, and best HR practices.
• Perform additional HR duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including experience in an HR Manager, HR Business Partner, or Senior HR Generalist role.
• Working knowledge of payroll processing and HRIS systems.
• Strong understanding of employment laws, compliance requirements, and HR best practices.
• Demonstrated experience managing employee relations, performance management, and organizational development initiatives.
• Excellent communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
• Highly organized with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Advanced proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications.
