Position Summary
The Director of Clinical Recruiting leads the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of clinical talent acquisition for one Leon Healthcare Partner's portfolio companies ("PortCo"). This role is responsible for building and managing a high-performing recruiting team focused on sourcing, attracting, and hiring licensed specialty clinicians to support the organization's growth and ensure exceptional client care.
The ideal candidate combines deep knowledge of credentialing and licensure requirements with proven leadership in high-volume, competitive clinical hiring markets.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Design and execute a comprehensive clinical recruiting strategy aligned with organizational growth goals and clinical staffing needs.
- Partner with clinical leadership, operations, and finance to forecast hiring needs across service lines and geographies.
- Own clinical recruiting metrics (time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, offer-acceptance rate, retention of new hires) and report regularly to senior leadership.
- Build scalable recruiting processes that can flex with rapid growth, new market launches, or seasonal demand.
Team Management
- Hire, develop, coach, and lead a team of clinical recruiters and sourcers.
- Set individual and team performance goals; conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning.
- Foster a culture of urgency, empathy, and clinical-industry expertise within the recruiting team.
Sourcing & Pipeline Development
- Develop and maintain robust talent pipelines for high-demand clinical roles.
- Build relationships with graduate programs, licensure boards, professional associations (e.g., NASW, APA, AAMFT), and internship/residency programs.
- Leverage data and market intelligence to identify emerging talent markets and competitive compensation trends.
- Oversee employer branding initiatives specific to clinical audiences, including career site content, social media presence, and conference representation.
Compliance & Credentialing Coordination
- Ensure recruiting practices comply with state licensure requirements, healthcare employment law, and payer credentialing standards.
- Partner closely with credentialing and compliance teams to ensure a smooth transition from offer to onboarding.
- Stay current on multi-state licensure regulations, telehealth practice laws, and scope-of-practice changes affecting hiring.
Candidate Experience & Employer Value Proposition
- Champion a candidate experience that reflects the organization's clinical mission and values.
- Refine interview processes, including structured clinical interviews and reference/license verification workflows.
- Collaborate with marketing and clinical leadership to articulate a compelling employee value proposition for specialty providers.
Process & Technology
- Select, implement, and optimize applicant tracking systems (ATS) and recruiting tools tailored to healthcare hiring.
- Use data analytics to continuously improve funnel conversion, sourcing channel ROI, and diversity of candidate pools.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, Healthcare Administration, or related field (Master's preferred).
- 7+ years of progressive recruiting experience, with at least 3–5 years specifically in healthcare recruiting.
- 3+ years of experience directly managing and developing a recruiting team.
- Demonstrated success recruiting licensed professionals across multiple states.
- Strong understanding of licensure requirements, credentialing processes, and healthcare compliance standards.
- Proven ability to build and scale recruiting operations in a high-growth or multi-site environment.
- Excellent relationship-building skills with clinical leaders, external partners, and candidates.
- Proficiency with ATS platforms (e.g., Greenhouse, Lever, iCIMS) and sourcing tools (LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed, etc.).
- Strong analytical skills with experience using recruiting metrics to drive decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience recruiting for telehealth or hybrid health delivery models.
- Existing network within graduate, social work, or nursing programs.
- Familiarity with payer credentialing timelines and their impact on hiring processes.
- PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, or AIRS certification.
- Experience in a fast-growing, private-equity-backed, or multi-state healthcare organization.
