AI Expert – Digital Transformation in Private Equity (m/f/x) - Italy

Mutares SE & Co. KGaA, Munich (www.mutares.com), as a listed private equity holding company, acquires medium-sized companies in special situations, which show significant operational improvement potential and are sold again after undergoing a repositioning and stabilization process.

Mutares actively supports its portfolio companies with its own investment and operations teams and through strategic add-on acquisitions. The focus is on companies with revenues ranging from EUR 100 million to EUR 750 million, across various industries. The aim is to achieve a clear value increase with a focus on sustainable, long-term growth of the portfolio company.

• Your Tasks
• Conduct discovery workshops to identify AI opportunities addressing key pain points such as automation, analytics, NLP, and generative AIDefine and prioritize use cases based on business impact, feasibility, and implementation effort
• Design scalable AI solutions and prototypes, ensuring cross-portfolio reusability
• Oversee implementation, including vendor selection, team coordination, and technical validation
• Develop toolkits and frameworks to accelerate AI adoption and enablement across Mutares and its portfolio companies
• Your Profile
• Successfully completed a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or a similar field with outstanding results
• At least 3 years of experience in designing and implementing AI solutions in business contexts, delivering large-scale AI or digital transformation projects in leading management consulting firms
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with an entrepreneurial mindset and hands-on approach
• Strong understanding of machine learning, LLMs, MLOps, data pipelines, and cloud-based AI architectures (Azure/AWS/GCP)
• Business fluency in Italian and English, with the ability to communicate in a well-structured and concise manner
• Willingness to travel up to 4 days per week (typically Monday
• Thursday) and to work in an international environment
