• Our client, a leading public sector organisation operating within Ireland's higher education and research landscape, is seeking an experienced Programme Manager to join their team on a six-month fixed-term contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated professional with strong programme management, stakeholder engagement, policy, and operational leadership experience to contribute to significant national initiatives within the education sector.

The Role

Reporting to a senior manager, the successful candidate will lead and manage a range of strategic programmes and initiatives, working collaboratively with higher education institutions, government stakeholders, and internal teams to deliver key organisational objectives.

The role requires a commercially aware and delivery-focused professional who can manage complex projects, oversee programme funding, analyse data, and contribute to policy development while ensuring high standards of governance and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage strategic programmes and projects from initiation through to delivery.
• Support the development and implementation of policies and strategies relating to education, research, and capacity-building initiatives.
• Design and manage application, assessment, and evaluation processes for new programmes and funding initiatives.
• Oversee the review and analysis of submissions from external stakeholders and prepare written recommendations and feedback.
• Manage programme budgets and provide financial oversight to ensure effective use of public funds.
• Prepare high-quality reports, briefing papers, presentations, and stakeholder updates.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the education sector and government bodies.
• Lead cross-functional projects and contribute to organisational objectives and strategic priorities.

About You

• Significant experience in programme or project management.
• Experience working in a public sector, higher education, research, policy, or related environment is desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex information and data.
• Excellent report-writing, communication, and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes within tight deadlines.
• Experience managing budgets and financial processes.
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities.
