About the Role
- We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer with 2–5 years of experience to join our growing engineering team in Pittsburgh, PA. In this role, you will develop and enhance edge software that powers AI-driven inline manufacturing inspection systems deployed in real-world production environments. You will work at the intersection of embedded systems, machine learning, and industrial automation to build reliable, scalable, and high-performance software that operates continuously on factory floors.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded edge software using Python and C++.
- Build reliable software that streams high-throughput image data to edge GPU platforms for AI inference.
- Develop deployment, configuration, and automation tools for edge computing systems.
- Improve system reliability, observability, fault tolerance, and recoverability for 24/7 production environments.
- Integrate machine learning models into embedded edge platforms and optimize inference performance.
- Collaborate closely with Machine Learning Engineers to deploy AI models efficiently on NVIDIA GPU hardware.
- Troubleshoot software, networking, and deployment issues across customer production environments.
- Optimize networking, image streaming, and data communication between industrial devices.
- Participate in software architecture discussions and contribute to continuous platform improvements.
- Travel to customer sites (approximately 1–2 trips per quarter) to support deployments and resolve field issues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 2–5 years of professional experience developing embedded or edge software applications.
- Strong programming experience in Python and C++.
- Solid experience with Linux development and troubleshooting.
- Experience working with Docker and containerized applications.
- Knowledge of networking concepts including Ethernet, TCP/IP, UDP, and data streaming.
- Experience deploying software into production environments.
- Familiarity with GPU-based computing platforms, preferably NVIDIA GPUs.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Willingness to work onsite in Pittsburgh, PA five days per week.
- Ability to travel to customer locations as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with edge computing or edge AI platforms.
- Experience deploying or optimizing machine learning inference services.
- Knowledge of CUDA, TensorRT, or GPU acceleration technologies.
- Experience with OpenCV, computer vision, or machine vision systems.
- Background in industrial automation, manufacturing, robotics, or medical devices.
- Familiarity with inference frameworks such as ONNX Runtime, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
- Experience with system monitoring, observability, and logging tools.
- Knowledge of high-throughput image processing pipelines.
- Experience working with industrial cameras and machine vision hardware.
