Data Governance Analyst

Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated Data Governance Analyst to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong academic foundation, 4–6 years of hands-on experience in data governance or data management, and a passion for improving data quality, trust, and accessibility across the enterprise.

The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, data owners, data stewards, and technical teams to support enterprise data governance initiatives, maintain business glossaries and data catalogs, improve data quality, and help establish governance best practices. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow into a senior governance or data management role.

Key Responsibilities

• Support enterprise data governance initiatives by partnering with business and technology stakeholders.
• Assist in maintaining the enterprise business glossary, data catalog, and metadata repositories.
• Collaborate with data owners and data stewards to define and document critical data elements, business definitions, and data lineage.
• Monitor and analyze data quality metrics, identify issues, and coordinate remediation efforts.
• Participate in data governance councils and working groups, documenting decisions and tracking action items.
• Help establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
• Perform data profiling and validation to identify inconsistencies, duplicates, and quality concerns.
• Support master data management (MDM) and reference data initiatives.
• Create reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate governance metrics and progress to leadership.
• Promote data literacy and governance best practices throughout the organization.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a related field.4–6 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Business Intelligence, Data Quality, or related disciplines.
• Understanding of data governance frameworks, metadata management, and data stewardship principles.
• Experience documenting business definitions, data lineage, and data ownership.
• Knowledge of data quality concepts and experience analyzing data quality issues.
• Strong SQL skills for data validation and analysis.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with enterprise data governance tools such as Collibra, Microsoft Purview, Alation, or Informatica Axon.
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Snowflake.
• Understanding of master data management (MDM) concepts.
• Exposure to data privacy and regulatory requirements (GDPR, CCPA, SOX, etc.).
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools.

Knowledge of Python or scripting for data analysis is a plus.
