Job Summary
South Denver Cardiology Associates is seeking an Accountant/Financial Analyst to support the financial operations of a multi-provider, multi-location cardiology practice. This role combines core accounting responsibilities with financial analysis, including physician compensation modeling, provider productivity tracking, and service line performance analysis.
The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge, advanced analytical skills, and experience working with QuickBooks Online. This position plays an important role in financial reporting, strategic planning, internal controls, and supporting executive leadership with key financial insights. [1]
Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements for the organization and individual practice locations.
- Develop and distribute provider and department financial reports, including productivity, revenue, and expense metrics.
- Perform variance analyses comparing actual results to budget and prior-year performance.
- Create financial dashboards, KPI reports, and trend analyses for leadership.
- Assist in preparing board-level financial reports and strategic summaries.
- Support physician compensation models, including partner and associate compensation structures.
- Analyze provider productivity metrics, including clinic volumes, workdays, and RVUs when applicable.
- Assist with compensation adjustments, rate changes, and partnership transactions.
- Support financial modeling related to provider onboarding, partnership transitions, and compensation increases.
- Collaborate with leadership on compensation planning and analysis.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations, including bank accounts, payroll accounts, and prepaid expenses.
- Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account adjustments.
- Serve as the primary QuickBooks Online administrator.
- Maintain the chart of accounts and class tracking by provider, location, and department.
- Ensure financial data integrity and improve accounting workflows.
- Support accounts payable, purchasing, expense allocation, revenue tracking, and account reconciliations.
- Assist with integration of financial data from practice management and purchasing systems.
- Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Build financial models to support capital investments, equipment purchases, and facility expansion projects.
- Monitor budget performance and provide variance explanations.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Support accounts payable and vendor management activities.
- Ensure compliance with vendor verification procedures and expense approval policies.
- Maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness.
- Assist with internal and external audits, including documentation and reconciliations.
- Provide financial analysis related to clinic expansion, new provider additions, and service line profitability.
- Perform ROI and cost-benefit analyses for capital and operational decisions.
- Support leadership with productivity analysis, capacity planning, and operational decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting or financial analysis experience.
- Healthcare or professional services experience preferred.
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online required.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling, pivot tables, and complex formulas.
- Experience with financial reporting and data analysis.
- Experience with Power BI preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Understanding of healthcare financial operations is preferred.
